After the collapse of
'Easy Vision Ltd', we had to move from their premises in Ponsonby.
In July 1964 we moved in to some accommodation premises above
a stationary shop at 137, Queen Street, Onehunga, which the owner
allowed us to convert in to an office and workshops, operating
under the name of 'La Wood Television'. I was approached several
times by a wealthy Chinese owner of Market Gardens in Mangere
and a toy factory in Hong Kong, who wanted to put money in the
business and act as a sleeping partner. I considered the options
and guided by my wife decided against it. On the 29th of August
1964, I formed a formal partnership with Robin Wood and we registered
ourselves on the 'NZ Company Register', as 'La Wood Television
Ltd' |

Until the formal partnership
between Robin Wood and myself (Colin Brookes), I remained officially
the sole trader of 'La Wood Television'. All correspondence including
this official one from the Inland Revenue (in the picture of
the letter above, postmarked 27th of May 1964), was of course
sent direct to me at my 'La Wood', registered address, of my
P.O.Box in Mt Roskill. |

The fire appliances are parked outside the old Onehunga 'Police
Station', and the old 'Post Office', can be seen to the left
of it. The scene is of a fire behind the cycle shop almost opposite
us in late 1964. |
